1947 - 2026
Theresa Ann Rieger, of Enid, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the age of 78. Theresa was born on October 30, 1947, to Charles and Gertie VanScoy in Camden, Arkansas.
In December of 1969 she had her only child, John Charles “Chuck” whom she loved dearly. Theresa worked her entire adult life in the medical field as a Medical Assistant and coder while also managing several medical clinics. At one point in her life, she was the President of the American Association of Medical Assistants. She ended up retiring in Oklahoma City with Mercy and left with lasting impressions on everyone she worked with. Theresa was a very bright individual with immense knowledge in her field.
Theresa loved singing and playing the piano, which she did with several churches she attended over the years. She also loved shopping, and loved spoiling her niece and nephews as much as she could. If you knew Theresa, you knew her love of butterflies. Between her home décor and clothing, there was always a butterfly on them and her family always thinks of her when they see a butterfly.
Theresa is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Gertie VanScoy, and her three brothers: Gary, Eddie, and Roger VanScoy. She is survived by her son Chuck Collins, a sister Phyllis VanScoy, and nieces and nephews including Emily Cartwright, Tyler VanScoy, and Tanner VanScoy.
A Celebration of Life Service for Theresa will be held at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home in Enid, Oklahoma on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.
