Mass of Christian Burial for William “Bill” Gilles will be Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 10:00 am in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church with Reverend Robert Miller celebrant. Cremation arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.
Bill was born June 7, 1937 in Okarche, Oklahoma to Urban F. and Bertha (Meyer) Gilles and passed away September 20, 2026 in Enid, Oklahoma.
He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Holy Trinity Catholic School in Okarche. Following high school graduation, Bill enlisted into the U.S. Air Force. He was station in Lincoln Nebraska before being deployed to Morocco. Bill was a guard and a carpenter and ranked as a Sr Airman. After serving four years, he served another two years in the Army National Guard. On January 11, 1961, he married Wilma Nadine Rigdon. They had one daughter, Pamela Renee. After Wilma passed away, Bill married Helen Hassfeld. He enjoyed all types of crafts, gardening and decorating the house and yard for the holidays. Bill held a variety of jobs before moving from Okarche to Enid, Oklahoma, when he was hired by Hackney Iron and Steel. He ran the furnace and metal press that made pipe and fittings of all types and sizes. Bill retired from Hackney Iron after many years of devoted service.
Bill was preceded in death by his wives, Wilma and Helen; parents; and sister, Clementine Gilles Reding.
He is survived by his daughter and husband, Pam Renee and Howard Clifton Kyser, Jr; three granddaughters and their husbands, Asley Nicole and Robert Jeffery McGee, Countney Lynn and Tristan Liam Peck, and Whitney Dawn and Neal Ryan French; eight great grandchildren, Adalyn and Hampton McGee, Haydn, Liam, and Lana Peck, Haisley, Ashton, Avery French; other relatives and friends.
