EnidLIVE!’s Colby Talley sat down with Alva Football Head Coach Ryne Wilson ahead of the Goldbugs’ regular season closer against Newkirk on the road.
Despite having an uncharacteristically rough year to this point, Alva is coming off a 34-20 win over Meeker in their final home game of the season.
“Our guys have no quit to them,” Wilson said. “These guys continue to fight…these guys found a way to win. They hit some adversity, made some little mistakes here and there, but eventually they came out on top.”
Wilson also took time to speak on his seniors — players such as Bentley London and Trace Hamilton — regarding the impact this graduating class has left on the Goldbug program.
“These guys’ legacies are going to be a little different [from previous teams],” Wilson said. “Their legacy will be ‘how did they further the program beyond themselves?’. They’re not going to have a great record, but their legacy will be ‘how did they build up the future of Goldbug football?"”
Alva plays Newkirk on Thursday night on CTB Sports 1390 KCRC, 1640 KZLS, the CTB Sports app and enidlive.com. Pregame will be at 6:30 p.m. and kickoff will be at 7 p.m.
