In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with the Canton Head Football Coach, Trevor Knight, to discuss the upcoming season.

The coach started off by talking about what brought him to coach at Canton.

“This is my 11th year coaching. I’ve been mostly around the southwest region. I’ve been at Cyril for six years; I’m from Tipton, so I’m familiar with the eight-man game. And Canton seems like a good opportunity to build something. They’ve had struggles, but I think most of it is mindset-wise, and I think we can fix it.”

Coach Knight wanted to highlight some key players who have stepped up.

“So our numbers have been really good, been really impressed with their work ethic, they want to be good. Our senior, Landon Vowell, has been the leader for us. He’s really coming in, bought in quickly, which is hard to do, especially as a senior. But he’s set the tone for people to follow. We have talented kids; that Landon Williams kid is as talented as you can get. It’s just about teaching him the right mindset, the way to do things. I think that it’s going to help him and us go forward.”
