CTB Sports Director sat down with Cherokee Chiefs Head Football Coach Bryce Schanbacher to discuss how the offseason has been so far.

The coach began by sharing how the summer has gone as a whole:

“We’ve had a really good summer. I’m pretty pleased with the turnout for our summer pride and weight program so far. In fact, this week, we’re attending a passing league and…16 or 17 kids [showed] up for that; and that’s good. I think our numbers are going to stay pretty average for us, maybe 24, 26 players out.”

Coach Schanbacker shared the experience of seeing the graduates play one final time in the 8-man All-Star game:

“It’s a lot of fun. I think it’s one of the best all-star games in the state. I’ve been to several, and I really think that, as far as the things we’re able to do for the kids, the quality of the game, and just the atmosphere that’s created over there…I’m glad to be here. I think all the kids that we have over there have always had that attitude. And so that’s a lot of fun.”
