In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with Fairview Head Football Coach Robert Bernard to discuss the District Championship against Cashion.
The coach began by discussing what to expect from Cashion:
“Coach Shack always has his team ready to go. He’s one of the best in our class, if not in the state. So really looking forward to the matchup. We’re going to take care of the football, especially in big games like that [where] points may be hard to come by. So both sides, defense and offense, [we] have to play our best game. We have to be physical and take care of the football when we have it on offense. So we’re just looking forward to that kind of matchup and see what happens.“
Coach Bernard expanded upon the game plan against Cashion’s defense:
“It is going to be tough. You know, they got a defensive end, number seven, that really gets off the ball hard. You know, they’re going to be tough to run on. They got great athletes on the back end that they can play multiple coverages, whether it’s a zone or man. And so it’s going to be tough to find ways to score points, much less move to football. We look forward to the challenge.“
