CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with the Garber Head Football Coach, Koy Hughes, to discuss the offseason.
The coach began by discussing how the offseason has gone as a whole:
“We look a lot different. We were very senior-heavy last year, but we got a lot of good experience for our younger guys. So we returned our quarterback, Aiden Johnson, and returned one of our premier linemen last year, Shane Smith. We got our tight end and defensive line back from injury in Hayden Timberlake…Offensively, we’ve got to replace two of our three offensive linemen and one of our receivers, but everybody else is, for the most part, back.”
Coach Hughes expanded on some teams to be faced in District 3:
“It’s going to be tough…there’s three of the last four state champions from B1 and B2 are in our district. And then you throw in Yale, who’s been successful and won some district championships, and Coyle, who’s [improved]…they look really good.”
