In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with the Hennessey Head Football Coach Mark Cox to discuss the upcoming matchup against Newkirk.
The coach discussed what to expect from the Newkirk Tigers this week:
“They’re definitely going to be coming in with some confidence coming off a victory, and we are too. And of course, it’s a critical game for both of us. It’s our first district game of the season. So, we preach that to our guys all the time. The first three games don’t have any impact on your playoff future. So, once we get into district play, obviously, the stakes go up substantially.”
Coach Cox also shared the excitement his team has for playing in the 6A2 stadium:
“That’ll be a fun atmosphere for sure. We don’t get to play a lot of games on turf or in a facility like that. So, for our kids to get exposed to those kinds of things, they’re excited about it for sure….”
