CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with the Kingfisher Head Boys Basketball Coach Colby Connel to discuss the upcoming Wheat Capital Tournament.
The coach shared the key to the team’s success this year:
“[I’ve] been trying to convince the guys [that] they need to find their identity on the defensive end of the floor, and so we’ve just been a little bit more bought into that, and so we’ve just…being more opportunistic and aggressive on the defensive end of the floor….”
Coach Connel shared how happy he is to have some seniors guide the underclassmen:
“We’ve definitely it’s it’s shown up in practice, it’s probably the best high school maturity levels. Sometimes, you get groups that just want to play games and don’t want to put the work in, and we’ve had a much more productive run in practice.”
