In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with Kingfisher Head Football Coach Regan Roof to discuss the upcoming game against Purcell.
The coach began by discussing what has been the key to the team’s success so far:
“I think the main thing is we’ve been able to get better every week and we came in with a very experienced group of skilled kids, but a very inexperienced group of offensive [and] defensive linemen…those inexperienced guys have gotten a little better every week and that’s kind of something we preached early on….”
Coach Roof shared his opinion on Purcell and the game plan against them:
“The record is deceiving. I’m scared to death of them just because of what they do offensively. They’re in the flex bone running the option. They put their physical up front. They do a good job of running the option, and they do something that could be a problem for us. They do a good job keeping the ball out of the offense’s hands. They’re going to limit our possessions because that offense takes a lot of time off the clock. They’re able to get first down and change field positions a lot. They haven’t done a great job of capitalizing on some of their drives…it’ll be more of a challenge than the records may indicate.”
