It was a great night for our 1st night of basketball on CTB Sports. Lomega girls defeated the Drummond girls 74-63. Abby Swart was incredible with 19 pts. While freshman Bree Morton had 20 pts in a coming-out party for Drummond.
It was a back-and-forth game in the 1st half despite the Lady Bulldogs struggling with the pressure from the Lady Raiders. However, the Lomega full-court press was too much to contend with and the Lady Raiders jumped out to a 20-point lead in the 3rd.
Drummond battled back in the 4th but it was too little too late to mount a comeback. Lomega improved to 1-1 on the year while Drummond fell to 1-1.
For the boys, Drummond defeated Lomega 64-42 in a dominant performance. Brayden Peters and Tyler Norris turned offense into defense with 20 pts each while Colten Dillingham had 16. Drummond set the tone for the night early not allowing Lomega to score any points in the 1st quarter.
Tyler Norris and Braylen Peters were getting their hands in the passing lanes, getting multiple steals each, and using their speed and athleticism to turn those steals into easy layups. Colten Dillingham had a quiet 1st half scoring only 2 points but that was in large part due to Drummond scoring most of their points in transition and not getting into a lot of half-court sets in the 1st half.
When Lomega settled down and took better care of the basketball in the 2nd half, that gave Dillingham the opportunity to score 14 points in the 2nd half. Lomega played much better in the 2nd half and Chase Burton had a great game with 16 points, however, the damage was already done and Drummond defeated Lomega for the 1st time since 2019.
