NOC Athletic Director Alan Foster Talks the Revival of the NOC Wrestling Program

NOC Athletic Director Alan Foster spoke with CTB Sports and Enidlive.com about the revival of the NOC Men’s Wrestling Program and the start of the New NOC Women’s Wrestling Program. Foster spoke about the return of the program saying it was partly impacted by the decision to move the Men’s and Women’s Soccer Programs to the NOC-Enid Campus.

Part of the reason Wrestling was brought back was due to Oklahoma being a Wrestling hotbed, Foster spoke about this saying “Oklahoma is such a strong wrestling state and where we’re located with Blackwell, Perry, Ponca City, some of the top programs in the State surrounding us we just felt like it was a natural fit”.

Foster also spoke about how the lack of opportunities for local wrestlers to continue their careers influenced the decision saying “There’s not a lot of opportunities for High School wrestlers at the junior college level in the state of Oklahoma or for that matter when you talk about connecting states”.

Foster also spoke about the community’s reaction to the return of wrestling to NOC saying “It’s been outstanding and we couldn’t have done it without some community support because to get the program started we needed an extensive fundraising campaign”.

Both the Men’s and Women’s Wrestling Programs will be making their debut in the Fall of 2024.
