In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with PCH Head Basketball Coach Darin Jones to discuss the upcoming PCH Invitational Tournament.
The coach wanted to commend the players on their progress for the tournament and for the basketball season:
“We got them together, and we had a couple days [of] practice, and just started playing games. And when you coach in a football school, you’re used to that, and you just kind of adapt and move along. And I’ve been really proud of how hard the boys have played. We’re not in basketball shape yet. Probably won’t be until after Christmas. But their effort has been outstanding.”
Coach Jones mentioned the challenge of playing in the tournament, wanting to take the trophy home:
“It’s our tournament. You know, we want to be playing for that championship trophy.
I don’t want to send that championship trophy home with anybody else. But I don’t really see it as pressure. I see it as an opportunity to get better. So yeah, we want to come out and play our best. And hopefully we’re playing that championship game on Saturday night.”
