Oklahoma secured the No. 8 seed in Sunday’s CFP announcement. It will host No. 9 Alabama in a first-round showdown on Friday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. CT inside Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. The game will air nationally on ABC and ESPN.

The winner advances to face top-seeded Indiana, the Big Ten champion, in the CFP Quarterfinal at the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1 at 3 p.m. CT in Pasadena, Calif.

The matchup marks Oklahoma’s fifth CFP appearance — and its first since 2019. The Sooners sit at 10-2 under fourth-year head coach Brent Venables and finished 6-2 in their debut season of SEC play. OU enters the postseason on a four-game win streak and stands alone nationally as the only program with five wins over AP-ranked opponents at the time they played.

Alabama comes to Norman at 10-3 following a 28-7 loss to Georgia in Saturday’s SEC Championship. The Crimson Tide posted a 7-1 mark during regular-season conference action and currently ranks 41st nationally in scoring offense (31.2 ppg) and 12th in scoring defense (17.4 ppg).
