In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with the Timberlake Head Football Coach Brian Severin to discuss the opening game against Cherokee.
The coach gave some insight into the Cherokee team and how they’ve grown over the year.
“They’ll be much better, obviously. The year of experience helped a lot. Dawson Schanbacker, quarterback, is a really good athlete. He’s got a year of experience now, and so they’re going to be a lot tougher, we know that. Plus, they’ll play us tough, they always do, so it should be a good ballgame.”
Coach Severin highlighted the importance of speed as well as how the players are adapting to it.
“During practice time, I told my assistant coaches that overall, this might be the quickest team I’ve ever had. Everybody can move, so in eight-man football, that’s a good thing to have, but still, the two guards are going to be new, the defensive end, and the linebackers. It’s going to take us two or three weeks to get the feel of it, get the flow of it. We’ve got some holes to fill, and looking forward to getting that done.”
