In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with the Waukomis Head Basketball Coach Allen Hicks and Chiefs Starting 5 Brady Helberg, Colt Simunek, Reed Hellman, Keagan Keller, and Eli Mitchell to discuss the upcoming matchup against Dover.

The coach began by sharing how the team has played in the Skeltur Tournament so far:
“The boys have played well. In the first round, we drew Garber, [and] we ended up beating them by 26. And to be honest, the boys came [into] the tournament kind of ill. We had a lot of guys [who] weren’t feeling well. So, they played…as [well] as they could for the situation that they were in. But they sucked it up, played well, [and] beat Garber by 26.”
Coach Hicks shared the progress that the team has shown:
“We’re a different team right now than we were [in] the first game of the season when we played Dover. I think the biggest thing is right now we have 17 games under your belt, as compared to that being the season opener. At that point, Dover already had six games. So they were kind of in the grind of their season.”
