Oklahoma Highway Patrol Engage in Shootout With Bank Robbery Suspect Leading to the Death of the Suspect

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol announced that they engaged in a shootout off of I-35 near Highway 412 with a bank robbery suspect leading to the suspect’s death. No state troopers were injured in the shootout.

The shootout came about after the Kansas Turnpike Authority alerted the Oklahoma Highway Patrol that a bank robbery suspect was driving south on I-35. State troopers located the vehicle leading to a chase.

During the chase, the suspect fired at officers and officers returned fire, the suspect then fled on foot into the I-35 Highway 412 area still firing at officers. Officers returned fire killing the suspect. The incident is still under investigation.
