A fatality collision that took place along US-81 four miles south of Waukomis has left two people dead and one person injured.
It was reported that Adrian Galaviz, 24, of Hennessey was travelling southbound on US-81 in his 2013 Nissan when, for a reason that is currently unknown, the vehicle departed the roadway to the right. Then, the vehicle reentered the roadway only to exit again to the left, sliding across the median and into the path of a 2004 GMC Envoy driven by Janet Hicks, 63, travelling in the northbound lanes.
While there had been winter weather throughout Northwest Oklahoma at the time of the incident, the roads were reported as being dry in the report provided by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Both Hicks and Galaviz were pronounced dead at the scene by the Waukomis Fire Department. Meanwhile, the lone passenger in the GMC Envoy with Hicks, 29-year-old Mathew Hicks, was transported by Air Evac to OU Trauma Center in Oklahoma City.
The conditions of both Galaviz and Hicks at the time are both unknown. The direct cause of the collision is under investigation.
