In this interview, News Director Colby Talley sat down with the Timberlake Head Girls Basketball Coach Matt Foster to discuss the upcoming matchup against Lomega.
The coach began by highlighting the hard work and improved team dynamics that have contributed to their success on both defense and offense.
“[The] girls have been working extremely hard. We’ve [finally] figured out how our rotation is with girls coming off the bench and onto the floor and what everybody’s role is. The main thing is our intensity has picked up a lot, and it’s helped us out tremendously on defense, which has turned into good and positive things on offense.”
Foster continued about the defensive qualities of Kremlin and Lomega and the importance of strategic gameplay. He emphasizes minimizing turnovers and capitalizing on scoring opportunities to increase their chances of success against Kremlin and Lomega.
“Both teams are very good defensively. Kremlin [matches] up with us really well [because] they’re extremely athletic and fast. I feel like we’re kind of the same way, too. We just have to be able to know where their shooters are, and their main scores, and being able to lessen our turnovers and create turnovers on the other end. If we can do those things, I like our chances. Against Lomega, it’s always about limiting your turnovers, and it’s almost more about just containing them and not stopping them, but just being able to take advantage of the times [when] we have the ball in our hand. Not turning it over as frequently and just playing basketball and just being as solid as we can.”
