In this interview, News Director Colby Talley sat down with Lomega Head Boys Basketball Coach Justin Edsall to discuss the upcoming matchup with Timberlake.
The coach emphasizes the importance of facing strong teams and improving performance in preparation for the playoffs.
“That’s what you want to be going into playoffs, preparing your guys [to play] tough people and keeping an edge…We’ve played decent, and can definitely play better. Timberlake’s a good group. I think they’re very good defensively and have a lot of weapons and links, so we’re going to have to really defend, block out, and [execute] offensively because they’re good [on] defense for sure.”
The coach began by highlighting the improvements and depths of the team’s players.
“I think that they all have [improved] in different ways. [One] of the best things about your team is returning those guys that started a year ago…All four of those guys have scored at least 28 points in a game, which gives us a lot of weapons.”
Edsall also discussed certain players who have stepped up during the season.
“I’ve been really pleased with Brendan Uhlenhake who’s kind of the new star this year. I thought he’s really played well [in] the last few games. Cameron Raymer coming off the bench, those guys are both juniors but they’ve got solid varsity minutes. They’ve always played hard and [a] pretty good defense; they’re both kind of finding ways to score for us, which has helped a lot.”
