The City of Enid is continuing to undergo relief efforts to support those affected by the tornado that swept through Enid on Thursday, April 23.
Recovery efforts are still ongoing, with donated goods being dropped off at the Chisholm Trail Expo Center.
The Samaritan’s Purse and the Oklahoma Baptists are offering volunteer opportunities to assist affected individuals.
City officials ask all residents to avoid damaged areas while emergency crews work to clear debris, support affected residents, and maintain safe access for first responders and utility crews.
Update: On Saturday, May 2, 600 volunteers will be mobilized to assist in the cleanup. Enid Public Schools will provide buses for transport with shifts spanning from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The landfill has extended its hours of operation:
- Monday-Friday
- 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Saturday
- 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Sunday
- 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
City Manager Jerald Gilbert shared that over 1,250 tons of debris have already been removed by City staff with assistance from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority.
Meals are being provided by The Salvation Army. Any restaurants/groups willing to bring food must coordinate through The Salvation Army at (580) 275-8442 before bringing it.
