Accident Near Kansas State Line Sees Truck Driver Injured

(Renfro, OK) According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a semi rollover near the Kansas State line, leaves a truck driver injured and closed U.S. 81 for almost nine hours Tuesday night going into Wednesday morning.

70-year-old Robert Leroy Dauer, of Marquette, Kansas, was transported to a Caldwell, Kansas hospital then to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was admitted in stable condition with internal chest and head injuries, according to the OHP report.

Dauer was driving a 2001 Peterbilt semi, north on U.S. 81, when he entered into a curve in the road too fast causing the weight of the load to shift and the truck to roll on its side. The truck slid for approximately 421 feet before stopping, according to OHP.

The roadway was closed from the time of the accident, 9 p.m. Tuesday, until 5:51 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to the OHP.

Seatbelts were equipped and in use, and the roadway was dry at the time of the accident, according to the OHP report.
