Man Struck by Pickup Truck Admitted to Hospital in Stable Condition

A man struck by a pickup truck on Thursday evening near Covington in Garfield County has been admitted to the hospital in stable condition.

Johnny C. Rolfe Jr., 59, of Childress, TX was working in a utility construction zone on the east side of South Sinclair Rd. at 4:50 p.m. on Thursday when Daniel J. Osterdyk, 52, of Pine City, MN began backing his 2020 Ford F150 southbound on the same road. Osterdyk failed to spot Rolfe in time, striking him with the pickup truck.

Rolfe was transported by Miller EMS to Health Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where he was admitted in stable condition with injuries to his head, arms and legs.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the stated cause of the accident was improper backing.
