Representative Rick West, R-Heavener, filed legislation to require organizations to accept cash for admittance to events.

House Bill 2972 would require private organizations that charge schools or school districts a membership fee and provide the coordination, supervision, and regulation of interscholastic activity shall accept cash as a mode of pay.

West recently released a statement about the bill.

“We don’t live in a cashless society, and honestly it’s dangerous to try and go in that direction,” West said. “Our ability to purchase what we want at any time easily could be taken away from us if we go cashless. We don’t need to give the government that much control over our lives.”
