Oklahoma Highway Patrol Gives Winter Driving Tips

On Tuesday, January 24th much of the state of Oklahoma received snow and in anticipation of the wintry weather the Oklahoma Highway Patrol posted Winter driving tips on Monday, January 23rd.

To prepare for icy or snowy roads they suggested staying informed via the media, and checking your breaks wiper fluids, and tire pressure. They also recommended packing warm clothing, a blanket, an ice scraper, sand or cat litter for traction, jumper cables, nonperishable food, and water.

Other tips they gave out were to make sure your phone is fully charged and bring a charging cable, and let friends and family know where you are going ahead of time. These tips just include how to prepare for winter road conditions, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol also gave out some helpful tips on what to do when on the road.

They recommended allowing enough space between you and other drivers to slow down or break in icy conditions. Other tips they gave out were to brake gently, avoid distractions, and make sure everyone in the car is buckled up.
