Oklahoma State linebacker Bryan McCoy Jr. has been named to the preseason watch list for the Butkus Award out of 51, which honors the top linebacker in college football.
McCoy, one of nine Big 12 players on the list, transferred from Akron and has made a name for himself with standout stats. A two-time all-conference pick, he led his team in tackles the past two seasons and ranked No. 8 in the FBS in 2024 with 10.0 tackles per game.
The Butkus Award semifinalists will be named Nov. 4, with finalists announced Nov. 25 and the winner revealed by Dec. 10. The award will be presented in early 2026 at the University of Illinois.
