In this interview, EnidLIVE!’s Colby Talley sat down with Blackwell Head Girls Basketball Coach Dennis Hart to discuss the upcoming PCH Tournament.
The coach began by sharing what he had seen in the team early going:
“Against Perry, we were really aggressive. Got some girls that [are] very athletic and get out and play defense on you. And a lot of the stuff that we had worked on from day one, we through…I think we went into the Morrison game feeling like we were pretty good and we forgot that we’re built around playing defense….”
Coach Hart enlightened us on his decision to coach Blackwell from Pond Creek-Hunter:
“When I was at Pond Creek, I was coaching the fifth and sixth grade and then the junior high, seventh and eighth grade, and then high school. So you’re gone pretty much every night. And coming to Blackwell, I’m in charge of the girls’ program, so I’m at the practices. But I’m actually only coaching the high school girls, so I don’t have to be gone all the time. I’m getting old, and being gone every night was kind of wearing on me. So that’s been refreshing to me to just have the high school team that I’m actually physically there coaching.”
