In this interview, EnidLIVE!’s Colby Talley sat down with the DCLA Head Boys Basketball Coach, Cole Jones, to discuss the PCH Tournament.
The coach highlighted the start of the season and the growth the players have gone through:
“Started out a little shaky start to the season. Things weren’t going well. We’ve gotten better later. Monday, we played really [well]. Overall, though, just the growth in our players, you know, a year makes a lot of difference. They’ve gotten stronger, they’ve been in the weight room, they’re in the gym every day, putting time in the gym, so I’m excited.
It should be a great year for us.”
Coach Jones continued about the team’s progress and mentioned a motivation factor for the team:
“They’ve all gotten more mature, stronger, and their skills have gotten better. They can all shoot it better. They can all handle it better. And, you know, I think, obviously, you know, when we went down there, and we lost to Stewart, it put a bad taste in their mouth. So, you know, I’m not saying every day I remind them of that, but I just kind of remind them of the feeling, ‘You guys remember when we lost Stewart, it wasn’t a great feeling.’ So, like, every day we just approach like we’re playing the number one team in the state, you know, like we’re going to do whatever it takes to win games.”
