In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with Enid Head Football Coach Chris Elerick to talk about the upcoming game against Bartlesville.
Coach Elerick began by sharing the importance of the win from the previous game against Putnam City West:
“It was more than great for those guys to get a win-long overdue. I wish we would have done it [a] week before when we had Midwest City on the ropes, but that didn’t happen. So really happy for not just the football guys, but everybody. The community…the big picture stuff that was really important to us.”
The coach gave some insight on Bartlesville and discussed the key to victory:
“Bartlesville is a much improved team than they were the last few years. They brought in an entirely new staff, top to bottom. They’ve got some new kids, and they’re going to be extremely up-tempo, fast-paced on offense. They want to throw the ball around a lot…Defensively, [they’ll] try to put a lot of pressure on you. They’re going to try to get after it off the edge, and we’ve got to do a really good job of blocking those guys up when we got the football so we can put drives together.”
