In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with Medford Head Football Coach Blake Lamle to talk about the upcoming season.
The coach began by sharing how spring practices have gone so far:
“Spring went good…Instead of doing two team camps, we kind of started doing the one spring ball, and then one camp. It was good for our guys. We’ve got a bunch of guys returning. It was probably boring for the older guys, but we have a bunch of freshmen and sophomores that are coming up, and that was really good work for them.”
Coach Lamle discussed the weaknesses with a late practice window:
“I’ve noticed a lot of cramping and maybe some mental errors at the beginning of the year when that practice window was shorter. I think if you’re playing a zero-week game, it’s really beneficial. Like us, we’re not playing a zero-week game, so it’s like a month before we do anything, like a serious month. And so, that’s been on people’s coaches’ minds of keeping our kids interested and keeping your practices short enough off the start.”
