NWOSU fell to Washburn, 2-0, on Tuesday.

The game opened as a pitcher’s duel, with the Rangers held hitless until the top of the fourth when Chase Gordon singled up the middle, and Cole Barton followed with a single through the left side to put a runner in scoring position. Gordon advanced to third on a flyout by Jason McCarty, but Northwestern couldn’t bring him home.

The score remained locked at 0-0 until Washburn finally broke the tie in the bottom of the seventh to take a 1-0 lead, then another run in the eighth secured the 2-0 win.

The Rangers will return on April 10 as they travel to Arkadelphia, Arkansas, to take on Henderson State University at 6 p.m.
