Perry Maroons Defeat Hennessey Eagles in Overtime Battle

On Friday, September 29th, the Perry Maroons defeated the Hennessey Eagles in an overtime battle 20-14. Both teams slugged it out in a defensive battle in the 1st half trading punts with a shutout being pitched by both defenses in the 1st half.
The Hennessey offense came alive in the 3rd quarter with Weston Smith scoring in the 3rd quarter followed up by a Kevin Trillo score at the beginning of the 4th quarter. However, Maroons quarterback Jaxson Cunningham and wide receiver Whelan Carson took over the game with Cunningham hitting Carson for 2 separate touchdown passes in the 4th quarter to send the game into overtime.
Perry started off overtime with a touchdown pass from Cunningham to Larkin, the Eagles failed to score when they got their turn on offense after starting the drive off with a penalty. The Maroons are now 2-0 in district play while the Eagles have fallen to 0-2 in district play and 0-5 on the season after the heartbreaking loss.
