In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with Enid Plainsmen Head Football Coach Chris Elerick to discuss the matchup against Moore.
The coach began by discussing what to expect from Moore:
“Moore is a really good 6A1 football team. They benefited heavily from the transfer portal. A lot of kids left Westmore and Southmore this year. They have a lot of players on the field who didn’t play at Moore last year. Coach Bennett and his guys are doing a great job with them. Right now, they are battling for that 3-4 spot in the district and trying to get a place where they can host a home playoff game. Very multiple on defense, they move around a lot.”
Coach Elerick expanded on how Moore plays and what makes them dangerous:
“Good speed on the defensive side of the ball. [On] offense, they’re versatile enough. They want to run the football, but they’ve also got a good quarterback and some dangerous receivers. They’re good in the pass game, so I would definitely say they’re balanced on the offensive side of the ball. Not just in scheme, but with the athletes that they get the ball to…a great team this year.”
