In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with the Dover Head Boys Basketball Coach Jared Reese to discuss the 102nd Annual Skeltur Conference Championship make-up game against Waukomis.
The coach began by highlighting how the tournament went for the team:
“I think we played okay. We really played with good effort, and we shared the ball well, and our defense was really, really strong. So we thought we had a good couple [of] first rounds. Pond Creek, we had just played them the week before, and they had some guys missing, and they had a back, so they were a much stronger team. So they gave us a pretty good game for a while, but we thought our kids played hard and played well, and just excited to keep getting better as the year goes on.”
Coach Reese gave some insight on why the team is doing good:
“We won some games early against some pretty good teams that kind of got our kids’ confidence going, and a lot of times that can just fuel the rest of the season. I know that first couple of weeks, you know, had a lot of kids that had never really played before as far as varsity minutes. So getting some of those games under their belt and winning gave them some confidence, and it just helped us improve throughout the year.”
