Enid Plainsmen Israel Gonzalez committed last week to play baseball at Cowley Community College. Gonzalez pitches for the Plainsmen as a starter and reliever and had a great year, helping the Plainsmen make it to the 2023 State Championship game. With former ace Jake Kennedy moving on to play baseball at Oklahoma State, the Plainsmen will rely on Gonzalez’s arm even more. Gonzalez steadily improved throughout the season showing more consistency throughout the year.

He also had a great summer of baseball pitching for both the Enid Plainsmen summer team Enid Blue and for the statewide Allstar team the Enid Majors. Gonzalez looked right at home playing with and against some of the best players in the State of Oklahoma.

Israel Gonzalez also plays quarterback for the Enid Plainsmen and recorded several starts after teammate Aiden Robinson went down with an injury against the Jenks Trojans early in the year. Gonzalez is the latest Plainsman to commit to Cowley Community College, former Plainsmen Blake Priest and Brock Gore have played for the Tigers, while Jake Kennedy was a Cowley commit before flipping his commitment to Oklahoma State University.

The Cowley Tigers of Kansas have one of the best Division 1 NJCAA Baseball programs in the country making it to the NJCAA Division 1 World Series Finals in 2022.
