The Oklahoma State Cowboys are the 2023 Texas Bowl winners after they defeated former Big 12 foes the Texas A&M Aggies 31-23 to finish out the year with a 10-4 record. It was a long way from the low expectations the Cowboys began the year with after losing several players to the transfer portal including star QB Spencer Sanders.

Expectations became even lower for Oklahoma State after a blowout 33-7 home loss to South Alabama. Many fans were critical of the 3 Quarterback system the Cowboys started the year with and rightfully so.

However, once the Cowboys committed to QB Alan Bowman as their full-time QB and focused on Ollie Gordan II in the run game everything changed. Gordan led the nation in rushing yards as Oklahoma State rattled off huge wins against Kansas State, Kansas, and even long-time rivals the Oklahoma Sooners in what may have been the final Bedlam.

The Cowboys finished 2nd in Big 12 play and found themselves matched up with the Texas Longhorns in the Big 12 Championship Game. While that game didn’t go their way, it was still a great year for Oklahoma State.

Their 10-win season surprised and silenced many who doubted them early on in the year.
