Oklahoma 2024 SEC Footall Opponents Revealed

It seems pretty crazy that we’re talking about the 2024 season when the 2023 season is still less than 3 months away from starting up. Yet, here we are talking about 2024 as the Oklahoma Sooners found out yesterday who their football opponents would be in their new conference…the SEC. The Sooners are set to make the move to the SEC after the 2023 season. And the 2024 football season will certainly be a doozy as some of the SEC’s finest will get ready to do battle with the Sooners.

The dates of these games are still yet to be determined so it will be interesting to see when in the season these games are going to actually be played. That could play a huge factor on the results of these games. But for now, all we have is the “Who” and the “Where” of these matchups so lets look at it closer. (Games in the white boxes are home games…games in black boxes are the road games)

OU will have just 3 SEC home games in 2024 as one of their home SEC matchups (the Red River Rivalry with Texas of course) will be played at a neutral site (The Cotton Bowl). And those 3 matchups will be tough ones for the Sooners as Alabama, Tennessee, and South Carolina will make the trip to Norman. South Carolina is always a coin flip on what kind of team you’re going to see. However, Alabama and Tennessee are two of the powerhouses in the SEC at this point in time and the Sooners will need all the help they can get from the home crowd.

The 2024 SEC road schedule for the Sooners is not much easier as they’ll be going to a couple of the most unpleasant places to play in the SEC (places that even the mighty Alabama and Georgia struggle in from time to time). OU will travel to Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss, and Missouri in 2024. While Auburn and LSU have been down in recent years…playing in front of those crowds are no picnic. Oxford, Mississippi can be a tough place to play if the Rebels are playing good football at the time. If they’re struggling, it may be a little easier. And then you’ve got Missouri…old Big 12 rival Missouri. The Sooners and the Tigers have not played each other since 2011 after Missouri left for the SEC in 2012. But now the old rivals will meet again in 2024 and you know that Columbia crowd is going to be rowdy for that one.

While it’s not the toughest schedule in the SEC for 2024 (look at Vanderbilt), it certainly is not the easiest by any stretch. Tough opponents will make their way to Norman while the Sooners will have to go to some of the tougher places to play in the conference. It shapes up to be an exciting 2024 football season once the move to the SEC is done and ready to go.
