CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with Music Composer Scott Freiman to discuss his upcoming show at the Stride Bank Center: Deconstructing the Dark Side of the Moon.
Freiman began by sharing how he got into music and production:
“I’ve been a musician since I was four years old. I was a classically trained pianist, got into rock and roll, as we all do, through the Beatles, and started to really just play the songs on the piano and try to figure out what was going on. Later in life, when I became a full-time musician and producer, I opened a music studio, and I started learning about how to produce.”
Scott touched on the album by Pink Floyd and reflected on its production and quality:
“We all remember listening to Dark Side of the Moon and just being overwhelmed by this journey that they take you on. And I really wanted to understand more about how that album was created and what went into the songs. Hearing [the] early takes and the decisions they made to get the final takes is really quite fun. And it really gives me a whole new appreciation for the album.”
Scott Freiman will host his lecture show on Saturday, June 13, at the Stride Bank Center at 7:30 p.m.
