CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with Waukomis Head Football Coach Rustin Donaldson to talk about the rivalry matchup against Pioneer.
The coach began by sharing what has lead to the team’s success on offense:
“For most of the season, we’ve been able to mix in enough runs to keep teams off balance in the screen game, and the ability to throw the deep ball. I think we’ve had a lot of guys; we’ve had a lot of injuries this year, more than I’ve ever had as a coach. The thing that’s kept us going is those younger guys being able to step into those receiving roles.”
Coach Donaldson shared the importance of this rivalry game against Pioneer:
“For the communities and everything, there’s a lot of history there, but for us, it’s the next district game. Our district is highly competitive, and you have to come ready to play every week; every game we have going forward is a huge game. No matter who it is that we’re playing, Pioneer is loaded with talent, and we’re going to have to play our best football to beat them.”
