A little over 90% of voters in Garfield County voted yesterday to pass a proposition that will continue the use of a county safety tax that aids in funding the Enid Fire Department.

The proposition was the only issue on the ballot for Garfield County and saw 2,105 people vote in favor of the tax while 212 voted against it. The tax will continue being used to fund training, maintain equipment and allow for lower property insurance premiums.

The tax was originally proposed back in 2013 and has now been in use for a decade.
