In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with the Pioneer Head Softball Coach Dave Riesen to discuss the offseason and upcoming games.
The Coach began by sharing how summer practices have gone so far:
“I feel like we’ve gotten off to a pretty good start with our practice schedule. We’ve had a couple of injuries before the season even started….other than that, we’ve had some really good practices. We started with our summer pride, lifting, and conditioning in May. We’ve had a good turnout for that. We’ve been off to a good start. I think the kids are excited to get ready and get started.”
Coach Riesen expanded on the key to success for the team:
“You’ve got to work harder…with the growth of our kids and [their] maturity level. We started [with] six freshmen and three sophomores last year. We’re physically a little stronger. We’re a little bit more mature as we’ve gotten older. I think that’s a big part of it.”
